BASALT ROVING
CHARACTERISTICS
Basalt roving is a raw material made from basalt fibres. Basalt is a type of volcanic rock created by the quick cooling of liquid magma. Basalt fibres are made by melting basalt rock and drawing it into thin strands, which are then spun into roving—a continuous thread composed of numerous basalt fibres.
Basalt roving is used in several areas, including construction, the automotive sector, shipbuilding, the aerospace industry, and the production of composite materials. It can be used to reinforce concrete products, enhance plastic products, and serve various other functions.
In our company, basalt roving is the foundation for the building materials we produce, including basalt reinforcement, basalt geogrid, basalt pipes, and basalt fibre (which is chopped into small pieces).
Basalt roving is the key material used to create all basalt products. This material is obtained by melting basalt in a furnace at 1450 °C, after which it is formed into fine threads.
Once basalt roving is obtained, it can be utilized to produce basalt fibre, reinforcement materials, geogrids, and basalt fabrics.
Basalt roving is widely used in the following industries:
- Automotive sector;
- Construction;
- Energy sector;
- Industrial filtration;
- Manufacturing of sports equipment.
The key benefits of basalt roving include:
– Excellent strength;
– Resistance to corrosion;
– High heat resistance;
– Eco-friendliness;
– Long-lasting durability;
– UV resistance;
– Ease of processing.
Basalt roving is extensively used across multiple sectors, such as automotive, construction, energy, and others. Below are some of the areas of application of basalt roving:
- Automotive industry: Basalt roving is used to strengthen composite materials in the automotive sector for manufacturing body parts, doors, hoods, and other components. It has high strength and corrosion resistance, which makes it an ideal material for the production of automotive components.
- Construction industry: Basalt roving is utilized to strengthen composite materials that are used in the construction industry to create sustainable structures. Its high strength and corrosion resistance make it an excellent choice for manufacturing building materials like panels, profiles, pipes, fittings, and more.
- Energy industry: Basalt roving is used to enhance composite materials in the energy industry for the production of cables, pipelines, tanks, and other components. It possesses outstanding thermal properties, making it an ideal choice for applications in high-temperature conditions.
- Industrial filtration: Basalt roving is used in the production of filters for various industrial sectors, such as oil-chemical, food and others. It has high strength and corrosion resistance, making it an ideal material for filter production.
- Sporting goods: Basalt roving is used to manufacture composite materials for a range of sporting goods, including skis, snowboards, rowing boats, and more. It possesses exceptional strength and corrosion resistance, making it an excellent material for producing sporting goods.
